The date 1823 appears in the lower field. The design is crudely struck on an irregular flan, characteristic of hammered cob coinage produced under emergency conditions. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | Bold cross dividing the field into four quarters, with a castle in the upper-left and lower-right quarters and a rampant lion in the upper-right and lower-left quarters, following the traditional Castile-and-León heraldic arrangement derived from Spanish colonial coinage. The strike is irregular and the details weakly defined, as expected of a primitive hammered cob issue. Pellet or bead ornaments are visible around the periphery of the flan. |
