Obverse description Draped bust of Philip III facing left within the inner field, overstruck with a prominent 'T' countermark applied by the Municipality of Tortosa in 1643. The bust is rendered in low relief in the hammered style characteristic of early seventeenth-century Catalan coinage. Surrounding the central effigy is a circular Latin legend reading PHILIPP9 D G HISPAN R, separated by pellets, set within a beaded inner border. The countermark partially obscures the royal portrait, as is typical of emergency revalidation issues of the period.
