Obverse description Central field dominated by a large Ottoman-style tughra (royal cipher) of Abd al-Aziz ibn Saud, rendered in flowing Arabic calligraphy. The inscription 'Al-Faisal al-Saud' appears to the right of the tughra within the field. The Hijri date 1343 is inscribed in Arabic numerals along the lower portion of the field, beneath the tughra. The design fills the coin face in the traditional Islamic calligraphic manner, with no portrait or figurative imagery. A plain raised rim encircles the entire composition.
