Obverse description At centre, the crowned royal cypher of Frederik III occupies the field within a beaded inner circle, with the Hebrew word EBEN-EZER flanking a cloud motif positioned beneath the monogram; the cloud breaks through both the beaded circle and the lower arc of the crown, imbuing the design with a distinctly providential character. The peripheral legend, rendered in Latin, encircles the entire composition outside the beaded border and concludes with the date 1659. The combination of the royal cypher with the scriptural reference reflects the deeply devotional iconographic programme of the Danish royal court in this period.
