Reverse description The reverse presents a multilingual inscription identifying the denomination in three scripts, reflecting the polyglot nature of Company coinage intended for circulation across the Indian subcontinent. The central field carries a Persian legend reading nīm pāī sikka (half pice coin) in Nastaliq script. Flanking legends in Bengali and Hindi — Ād pāī sikka and Ādha pāī sikkā respectively — provide vernacular equivalents of the denomination. The overall design is restrained and epigraphic in character, consistent with pattern coinage produced for the Bengal Presidency circa 1809.
