Obverse description The heraldic coat of arms of the East India Company occupies the central field, rendered in fine relief. The shield is supported by traditional heraldic figures and surmounted by appropriate mantling, displaying the Company's quartered arms. A ribbon below the shield bears the Latin motto AUSPICIO REGIS ET SENATUS ANGLIAE. The encircling legend EAST INDIA COMPANY runs along the periphery, with the date 1804 positioned in the lower exergual area, the whole contained within a raised toothed border.

Reverse description A set of balanced scales hangs in the central field, symbolising justice and equitable trade, rendered in crisp relief against a flat ground. The Arabic legend عدل (Adil, meaning 'just' or 'fair') appears above or flanking the scales, while the Hijri date ١٢١٩ (AH 1219, corresponding to AD 1804) is placed in the lower portion of the field. The entire design is enclosed within a raised toothed border consistent with the obverse treatment.
