Obverse description Left-facing draped and uniformed bust of King George V, rendered in high relief against a flat field. The engraver's initials B.M., for Bertram Mackennal, appear incuse on the truncation of the bust. A continuous beaded inner border separates the portrait from the surrounding legend. The Latin circumscription GEORGIVS V REX IMPERATOR runs clockwise between the beaded border and the milled rim.
