正面描述 Draped bust of Pope Clement XI facing left, wearing a camauro and papal cope richly decorated with an ornate floral and foliate pattern. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine engraving characteristic of the Hamerani workshop. The encircling legend reads CLEMENS XI P M AN XI, separated by small star stops, running along the inner border of a finely toothed milled rim.

附加信息

Clement XI's pontificate was defined almost entirely by catastrophe. The 1713 Treaty of Utrecht — just two years after this coin's issue — stripped the papacy of what remained of its feudal claims in Italy, a humiliation made worse by Clement's botched attempt to influence the War of Spanish Succession by recognizing Philip V, then reversing course under Habsburg pressure. The papal treasury was chronically depleted throughout his reign, making silver issues of this weight genuinely expensive to produce and circulate.

The Munzen reference 53 places this among a small series of half-piastra strikes that show considerable die variation across surviving examples.
