| Opmerkingen |
Colombia's fractional peso oro notes of this period exist because post-war coin shortages made small-denomination specie genuinely difficult to keep in circulation — silver and copper disappeared into hoarding and export faster than the mint could replace it. The Banco de la República had been issuing fractional paper since the 1920s for the same reason, and this series continued that stopgap function well into the early 1950s.
ABNC produced these during a period when the company held near-exclusive contracts across much of Latin America. The relatively long five-year issue window for a fractional note suggests steady demand and no major printing interruption.
