Camac, Kyan and Camac were Dublin-based iron merchants who issued this token during the wave of private copper coinage that flooded Britain and Ireland in the late 1780s, filling a void left by the Royal Mint's near-total neglect of small denomination production. The Wilkinson connection places this among the Soho Mint-adjacent issues circulating through industrial commerce. Irish merchant tokens of this period are substantially harder to locate than their English counterparts, as Dublin's commercial token output was comparatively limited.
