The legend VICTORIA D:G: BRITT:REG:F:D: runs continuously around the periphery within a toothed border (or beaded border on early 1860 issues), with the portrait dominating the central field. The design is executed in high relief with fine hair and drapery detail characteristic of Wyon's workmanship. |
