| Obverse description | The entire field is occupied by a five-line merchant inscription in raised capital letters reading BY / SOLOMON / DICKSON / AND / TAYLOR, arranged concentrically within the coin's centre. A circular outer legend reads PAYABLE AT ST. HELENA, running along the periphery of the coin. The design is bordered by a continuous inner ring of beading, and a small floral ornament appears at the base of the central inscription. The coin bears no effigy or pictorial device, relying entirely on typographic legend as was typical of private merchant tokens of the period. |
