| Obverse description | A three-masted sailing ship under full sail occupies the central field, depicted in profile moving to the right with rigging and sails rendered in some detail. The circumferential legend SHIPS COLONIES AND COMMERCE arcs around the upper and lateral portions of the field, separated by small ornamental stops. The date 1815 appears in the lower exergual area beneath the ship's hull. The overall design reflects the mercantile and colonial iconography typical of early nineteenth-century Canadian trade tokens. |
