Reverse description A long cross extending to the coin's edge divides the reverse into four quarters, each containing a pellet or a small trefoil ornament, consistent with the standard design for English halfpennies of the period. The mint name legend CIVI TAS LOn DOn is distributed across the four quadrants formed by the cross, denoting the City of London as the place of issue. The cross design follows the established English hammered coinage tradition, providing a convenient means of dividing the coin into smaller denominations. The flan is irregular and slightly off-centre, as is typical of hand-struck coinage of this era.
