| Beschrijving keerzijde | A crude depiction of Hibernia, represented as a seated figure with a harp, centrally placed in the field and rendered in a rough, irregular die-engraving style typical of these regal imitations struck for circulation in the Canadian provinces. The harp motif, the emblematic symbol of Ireland used on genuine British halfpennies of the period, is coarsely executed with irregular line work. The surrounding legend, intended to read HIBERNIA, is frequently blundered or partially legible depending on the die variety. The reverse design is heavily worn on this example, with surface porosity and striking weakness further obscuring detail. No exergue line or additional decorative elements are present. |
