Obverse description Bareheaded, draped and cuirassed right-facing effigy of George IV in his capacity as Prince of Wales and High Steward of Scotland. The portrait is rendered in a classical style with fine detail to the drapery and cuirass. The peripheral legend reads GEORGIVS • P • S • S • C • D • 1799, with the engraver's name MILTON appearing in the lower field. The bust occupies the central field with strong relief characteristic of pattern and proof-quality strikings.
