Obverse lettering YARMOUTH HALFPENNY. 1792
Reverse description The reverse features the heraldic shield of Great Yarmouth at centre, divided per pale and displaying three lions passant guardant arranged vertically on the dexter half, each paired with the forepart of a herring on the sinister half, faithfully reproducing the town's civic arms. The shield is surrounded by an oak wreath with acorns, tied at the base, symbolising strength and civic pride. The surrounding legend LET YARMOUTH FLOURISH. arcs around the upper periphery in bold incuse lettering, serving as the motto of the issuer. The milled border is consistent with the obverse, providing a clean dentilated frame to the design.
