Reverse description Britannia is depicted seated facing left, helmeted and draped, resting upon a rock or plinth, her left arm extended to rest upon a large oval shield and her right hand gripping a long anchor set diagonally in the field. A crowned lion couchant occupies the lower left field. The word HALFPENNY arcs along the upper peripheral legend, and the date 1793 appears in the exergue below a horizontal baseline, with a toothed milled rim encircling the entire design.
