Obverse description Central field occupied by the intertwined cypher 'AD' (for Atholl Duke), rendered in elegant script and surmounted by a ducal coronet with foliate detailing. The monogram is boldly executed in relief against a plain field. The date 1758 appears in the lower portion of the field, below the cypher. The coin is bordered by a continuous beaded rim. No peripheral legend is present on this side.
