| Beschrijving voorzijde | Half-flan cut halfpenny depicting the crowned facing effigy of King Henry III, rendered in the schematic style characteristic of the Long Cross coinage. The king is shown wearing a plain crown and holding a sceptre, with the design truncated along the straight cut edge. A partial Latin legend runs around the circumference of the surviving arc, reading portions of the royal title. The portrait displays the flat, stylised facial treatment typical of mid-thirteenth century English hammered silver. |
