Reverse description A stork, depicted with folded wings and elongated neck, stands in right profile upon a grassy mound or bundle of reeds occupying the lower central field, its plumage rendered with the naturalistic precision typical of Conder token engravers. The circular legend PROMISSORY HALFPENNY . surrounds the central device, reading clockwise around the periphery. The date 1793 appears in the lower exergue beneath the bird's mound. A toothed border encircles the entire reverse.
