Obverse description A seated female figure, personifying Britannia, occupies the central field, turned slightly to the right, holding a sceptre in her right hand and resting her left arm upon a shield bearing a heraldic device. A cornucopia or bag of produce is extended before her in her left hand. A crowned lion passant is depicted at the lower left of the field. The curved legend HALF PENNY arcs around the upper periphery in raised Latin letters, with the date 1793 inscribed in the exergue below the figure.
