Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of a king facing right, the hair rendered in flowing locks with a laurel wreath, occupying the central field. A peripheral legend in capital letters reads GOD SAVE THE KING, encircling the effigy. The portrait closely imitates the style of contemporary British regal halfpenny coinage of George III, characteristic of evasion token design intended to avoid prosecution under the Coin Act.
