| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of a king facing right, closely imitating the portrait style of a genuine George III halfpenny, occupying the majority of the field. The peripheral legend reads GLORIOVS III · VIS, a deliberately garbled evasion of the standard royal titulature, characteristic of privately struck evasion tokens produced to circumvent the laws against counterfeiting. The workmanship is coarse relative to official regal coinage, consistent with the clandestine nature of such pieces. |
