| Obverse description | Uncrowned effigy of King George VI facing left, rendered in high relief with naturalistic detail of the hair and facial features. The bare-headed portrait is the work of engraver Thomas Hugh Paget, whose initials HP appear truncated at the neck. The circular legend reads GEORGIVS VI D:G:BR:OMN:REX F:D:IND:IMP., distributed around the periphery of the coin. The rim is defined by a fine milled border of raised beads. The overall style reflects the restrained neoclassical tradition of British colonial coinage of the period. |
