Reverse description A classical seated figure of Britannia faces left, holding a long trident in her raised left hand and an olive branch extended in her right hand, with a large oval shield bearing the Union flag resting against her left side. The figure is rendered in high relief against a smooth, mirror-polished field, consistent with the exceptional proof quality of this Soho Mint strike. The legend BRITANNIA is inscribed above, flanked by the mint name SOHO to the right, and the date 1799 appears in the exergue below the groundline. A beaded border encircles the entire design.
