| Obverse description | Laureate and cuirassed right-facing effigy of King George I, rendered in high relief with fine detail to the drapery and armour. The legend runs continuously around the bust, interrupted at the base of the truncation. This is the second obverse of the second issue, distinguished by a plain left shoulder strap and a reduced quantity of hair visible to the right of the tie knot. The portrait exhibits the characteristic robust modelling associated with the engraving of John Croker. |
