Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Field Marshal Wellington facing left, wearing a military uniform with epaulettes visible at the truncation. The peripheral legend FIELD MARSHAL WELLINGTON curves around the upper portion of the field in large letters, consistent with the large-legend variety. A small laurel branch ornament appears at the base of the bust, flanking the lower field on both sides.

Reverse description A seated female figure, representing Britannia or an allegorical personification of commerce, is depicted facing left at centre, her right arm extended and her left arm resting on a shield or support. The figure is enclosed within an open wreath of laurel branches that frames the lower and lateral fields. The circular legend HALFPENNY TOKEN is inscribed around the upper periphery in large upright letters, corresponding to the large-legend obverse variety.
