The Isle of Man gained full control over its own coinage in 1973 following the Tynwald's reassertion of fiscal autonomy, and the Pobjoy Mint — based in Surrey — has struck virtually all Manx decimal coinage since. This half penny ran only through 1983, when the denomination was abolished on the island in line with the United Kingdom's own withdrawal of the halfpenny, which followed in 1984.
