Obverse description Facing crowned effigy of King Edward II enclosed within an inner beaded circle, rendered in the schematic style typical of early 14th-century English hammered coinage. The king's bust is depicted frontally with a stylised crown, the facial features executed in low relief consistent with the period's die-cutting conventions. A surrounding legend in uncial Latin characters runs between the inner beaded circle and the coin's irregular periphery.
