| Obverse description | Draped bust of a male figure facing left, rendered in the classical style with flowing drapery visible at the truncation and a ribbon tied in the hair. The portrait occupies the central field and is executed in moderately high relief. The surrounding legend reads AUCTORI: CONNEC, divided on either side of the bust, abbreviated from the Latin 'Auctoritate Connecticutensis' (By the Authority of Connecticut).
