Reverse description A crowned Irish harp occupies the central field, surmounted by a royal crown of Stuart form with distinctive arched bands and jewelled band. The date appears divided on either side of the crown. The circumferential Latin legend, set in large letters consistent with this issue type, reads MAG.BR.FRA ET HIB. REX followed by the date. The harp is rendered with fine parallel string lines and decorative scrollwork at the neck and foot, characteristic of the Armstrong and Legg coinage for Ireland.
