| Reverse description | A finely engraved harbour scene dominates the field, depicting a three-masted merchantman being unloaded alongside a quay, with a rocky coastline receding into the distance. To the left, just above the wharf, two glassworks cones rise prominently, emitting plumes of smoke that evoke Dundee's industrial character. In the lower portion of the field, the Dundee Coat of Arms is presented within a recessed oval, showing two dragons as supporters with wings elevated and their tails entwined beneath the shield. The circumferential legend in Latin reads MARE ET COMMERCIUM COLIMUS. DEI DONUM, translating as 'We cultivate the sea and commerce, the gift of God.' |
