Obverse description Crowned facing bust of King Alexander III within a beaded inner circle, the effigy depicted with a stylised crown bearing fleurs and a central cross finial. The king's face is rendered in a broad, flat medieval hammered style with visible ear and rudimentary drapery at the shoulders. A small heraldic cross or fleur-de-lis ornament appears to the left of the bust. The royal legend ALEXANDER DEI GRA encircles the effigy between the inner beaded circle and the coin's irregular outer edge.
