Additional information

Olav Magnusson became king of Norway at roughly ten years old and died at around seventeen, leaving one of the shortest adult reigns in Norwegian history. His coinage, struck during the fractious post-Hardrada reorganization of Norwegian royal minting, survives in extremely small numbers. The Skaare 63 attribution places this among the more precisely documented types from his reign, which is itself notable given how poorly the numismatic record of early twelfth-century Norway is preserved.
