Reverse description Central device consisting of a double cross, a motif common on Anglo-Saxon-influenced Scandinavian pennies of the early eleventh century, positioned in the middle of the field. The cross arms extend toward the inner beaded border that encircles the design. A peripheral legend in uncial Latin script runs between the cross device and the beaded ring, recording the moneyer's name and the issuing region. The overall execution reflects the rough, hand-struck quality typical of Viking Age Norwegian coinage.
