Reverse description As a bracteate, this coin was struck from a single die, producing a faint incuse mirror image of the obverse design on the reverse face. The reverse shows the corresponding negative impression of the crowned frontal bust, with no independent design or legend. The surface displays the characteristic thinness and irregular flan edges associated with Norwegian hammered bracteate coinage of the twelfth century.
