| Aanvullende informatie |
Maria I and her husband Pedro III issued coinage jointly following her accession in 1777, a constitutional arrangement that placed her name first — an unusual inversion of the period's norm, reflecting the legal reality that the crown descended through her, not him. Pedro died in 1786, which effectively ends the date range for this joint type. The Bahia mint's output for this series is considerably scarcer than Lisboa's, a disparity that catalog references often understate.
