Obverse description Central Burgundian saltire cross with a firesteel (fusil) at the intersection, from which hangs the jewel of the Order of the Golden Fleece suspended on its chain. The four arms of the cross divide the field into quadrants. A circular Latin legend surrounds the entire composition, with the date split across the lower quadrants of the cross. The design is rendered in the characteristic bold relief of Southern Netherlandish hammered coinage of the seventeenth century.
