| Obverse description | Central field displays a stylized Persian letter 'Te' (ت), the initial of Sultan Tipu's name, positioned above a schematically rendered elephant in low relief. The design is executed in a bold, somewhat crude hammered style typical of late 18th-century Mysorean copper coinage. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, with a granular surface texture resulting from the hammering technique. The elephant motif, a traditional symbol of royal authority in the Deccan, is depicted in profile facing left beneath the calligraphic device. |
