The legend, struck on an irregular planchet, identifies the issuing authority or denomination in keeping with the standard formulaic inscriptions used on Jammu and Kashmir copper coinage of the Ranbir Singh period. The die work is crude and characteristic of the hand-struck Srinagar mint issues, with letters showing varying depth of strike across the uneven surface. |
