Additional information

Sadasiva Raya was emperor in name only. Real power throughout this period was held entirely by Rama Raya of the Aravidu family, who ruled as regent and conducted wars, diplomacy, and administration while the emperor remained effectively confined to Vijayanagara. The coinage issued under Sadasiva's name reflects this fiction — a legitimate dynastic face on an administration run by someone else.

The empire collapsed catastrophically at the Battle of Talikota in 1565, when a coalition of the Deccan Sultanates defeated Rama Raya's forces and sacked the capital. Sadasiva survived but never recovered political relevance.
