Obverse description The Mexican national arms occupies the central field, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched upon a prickly pear cactus growing from a rocky outcrop, devouring a serpent held in its beak and talon. The eagle is rendered in fine detail with wings displayed, facing left. The central device is encircled by an ornamental wreath of oak and laurel branches.
