| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field depicting a leopard passant to the right, rendered in the crude but vigorous style typical of late medieval Anglo-French billon coinage. The animal's body occupies most of the field, with traces of heraldic detailing visible despite considerable wear. The surrounding Latin legend reads + hEnRICVS REX, identifying the issuer as Henry V, King of England and claimant to the French throne. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the edges, consistent with hand-cut billon planchets of the period. The overall strike is weak in areas, a characteristic feature of hammered issues of this denomination. |
