正面铭文 •大朝鮮 開國四百九十五年 ○ 반냥 ○ 1/2 NIANG
(Translation: Great Joseon founded 495 years ago, 1/2 Nyang)
背面描述 Central denomination in large Hanja characters '半兩' (Half Nyang) set within a beaded inner circle. Flanking the central circle on both sides are two symmetrical sprays of plum blossom branches in full flower, tied at the base with a ribbon bow. A circular Taeguk symbol appears at the top, above the beaded circle. The overall composition is enclosed within a beaded outer border, presenting a refined and elegant decorative design characteristic of late Joseon pattern coinage.

附加信息

Korea's 1886 pattern coinage was produced as the Joseon court attempted to establish a Western-style monetary system under significant pressure from both Japanese and Chinese interests competing for influence over the peninsula. The pieces were struck in very limited numbers as trial strikes, never entering circulation.

KM#Pn13 is catalogued as a pattern — one of several experimental denominations from this period that tested compositions and denominations before the mint infrastructure was properly established at the Joseon mint with German technical assistance.
