Issued as part of Israel's ongoing commemorative program marking significant historical and archaeological sites, this piece documents Jaffa's role as the primary Mediterranean port serving Jerusalem for centuries — the landing point for timber from Lebanon used in constructing both Solomon's Temple and the Second Temple. By 1990, the ancient harbor itself had long ceased commercial operation, superseded entirely by Ashdod and Haifa.
