Obverse description Central field bearing the large numeral fraction '1/2' above the denomination inscription in Hebrew ('חצי שקל חדש') and 'NEW SHEQEL' in Latin script. The trilingual country name 'ISRAEL' in Latin, 'ישראל' in Hebrew, and 'اسرائيل' in Arabic appears along the upper periphery, separated by small decorative dots. A seven-branched menorah flanked by the Hebrew date inscription appears at the base of the design. A dotted inner border follows the dodecagonal outline of the coin.
