| 表面の説明 | A stylized five-petalled plum blossom (Prunus mume), the national flower of the Republic of China, occupies the central field, rendered in low relief with prominent stamens radiating from a central boss. The Chinese legend reading 中華民國七十年 (Republic of China, Year 70) arcs around the upper periphery, with individual characters flanking the floral motif at the sides. The date appears above the blossom in accordance with the Republic of China calendar system. The design is spare and emblematic, with no additional ornamentation in the field. |

Taiwan's half-dollar denomination was effectively obsolete before this series even ended. Inflation throughout the 1980s and 1990s steadily eroded its purchasing power to near zero, and the coin persisted largely through institutional inertia rather than any practical demand. The Central Bank finally discontinued the type in 2004, by which point examples had largely vanished from circulation — not through wear, but through abandonment in drawers and jars across the island.
