Obverse description Densely engraved field bearing a multi-line Persian inscription in ornate Nasta'liq calligraphy, proclaiming the sovereignty of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and invoking divine blessing. The legends fill the entire flan in bold, flowing strokes characteristic of Sikh-era hammered gold coinage. A small floral or star-shaped ornament punctuates the central field as a decorative device. The irregular flan edges reflect the hand-struck technique typical of Amritsar mint production.
