| Popis líce | Central field features an elaborate lobed cartouche of interlaced floral and foliate design executed in the hammered style characteristic of Zand-period coinage. Within the cartouche, the mint name and regnal invocation are inscribed in Nasta'liq Arabic script. The mint name Yazd (دارالایمان یزد) appears prominently, accompanied by the AH date 1190 at the base of the cartouche. The overall composition is densely ornamental, with scrolling arabesques filling the surrounding field. |

Karim Khan Zand never took the title of Shah, ruling instead as Vakil al-Ra'ya — regent of the people — a deliberate political stance that distinguished his coinage from the Safavid and later Qajar traditions. The Yazd mint was among the more productive in his realm, and issues from the final years before his death in 1779 reflect a dynasty already beginning to fracture under succession pressures.
